Job Summary:

Install, connect, test and maintain electrical systems for a variety of purposes, including climate control, lighting, security, and communications, as well as maintaining electronic controls for machines in business and industry

Responsibilities:

  1. Plans, diagrams, installs and repairs electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels
  2. Measure, cut, bend, assemble, and install electrical conduit (piping or tubing), and pull wire through conduit; Connect wire to circuit breakers, transformers, outlets, or other components
  3. Test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety components, using instruments such as the ohmmeter, ammeter, voltmeter, oscilloscope, megger, and other testing equipment
  4. Assemble, install, and wire electrical systems that operate heating, lighting, power, air conditioning, and refrigeration components; electrical equipment and controls; and signal and communication systems
  5. Use hand tools such as conduit benders, screwdrivers, pliers, knives, wire strippers, hacksaws, pipe threaders, as well as power tools like drills and saws
  6. For safety and job performance, must be familiar with the National Electrical Code (NEC), designed to protect people and property from hazards arising from the use of electricity.
  7. Performs other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • State electrician license
  • Ability to lift objects up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work in heights
  • Ability to climb & work on ladders
  • Ability to see in full color (electrical wire is identified by color)
  • Manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, physical fitness and good sense of balance
  • Bend, stoop, climb, stand, stretch, reach and lift arms above shoulder height repeatedly or continually over time
  • Safety, Lock-out/Tag-out, HAZMAT, Forklift, Electrostatic Discharge, and ARC Flash knowledge.
  • National Electrical Code (NEC), Comm 16 & NECA Standards knowledge
  • Good math skills, including basic algebra

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five years electrical related experience or have demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the above-mentioned tasks.
  • Ability to read and/or understand electrical diagrams & blueprints
  • Flexibility to travel long distances to job sites or to stay overnight out of town
  • Ability to work on-call rotation
  • Independence skills: a self-starter with the ability to work efficiently on their own
  • Good attendance history
